MAJOR PROJECT
BRIEF:
Create a 3D model, rig it and animate it and place it into a realistic environment.
RESPONSE 1:
My initial idea is to model a whale shark, rig and animate it swimming through the sky in the city of London.
I have placed some reference images to whale sharks below as well as a reference video of one swimming.

'There is no planet B'...Stop finning, save sharks.
One of the reasons I decided to model a whale shark was to bring attention to the fact that they are critically endangered and that people still hunt them, for meat and fins, constantly despite this.
Whale sharks are amazing, peaceful creatures and are very important to our ecosystem.
Whale sharks regulate the ocean's plankton levels, and prevent these microscopic organisms from growing without restriction – which can have a negative effect on ocean environments if they do.
Below is a video done by Artportable of whales swimming through the sky in order to bring awareness to climate change.
SCHEDULE:
27/02/2022 - Finish storyboard and acquire all footage (Piccadilly Circus, tube)
03/02/2022 - Have basic model of shark completed
07/03/2022 - Complete model of shark
10/03/2022 - Complete texture of shark
13/03/2022 - Finish rigging and animating
17/03/2022 - finish comping the sharks into the scene
PROCESS
The images below show the basic model that I completed of the whale shark. Still more detail will be added as well as the texture.

Below is some of the footage I took in London.
I plan to 3D print and mount my model for the final exhibition in June. Taking inspiration from Damien Hirst as seen below.

I imported the basic mesh into Maya, added a spine and bonded it to the mesh to animate.
